"The main purpose of the Crochet Guild of America is to educate the public about crochet, provide education and networking opportunities, and set a national standard for the quality, art and skill of crochet through creative endeavors."

TUCSON GUILDS-

Old Pueblo Knitters-

P. O. Box 64814, Tucson, Arizona 85728-4814 Meetings at St. Philips Episcopal Church, Murphy Room, 4440 N. Campbell Road at River Road "Our purpose is to provide a source of communication and education to those persons wishing to advance the quality of workmanship and creativity in knitting. We meet the third Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Everyone interested in knitting is welcome at our meetings. Local dues are $20 a year. Members receive a newsletter, access to our video library, the opportunity to participate in programs and discounts to workshops."

Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild-

Guild members are weavers, spinners and fiber artists with a variety of interests and diversity of skills from beginners to award-winning artists. The common bond is the exchange of ideas and a strong desire to educate ourselves and others about fiber arts.

General Meetings with speaker presentations are held at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Parish Hall, 3201 E. Presidio Rd., Tucson, 9:30 am - noon, the 4th Wednesday of the month.

The Guild offers study groups in Weaving, Spinning, Felting, Surface Design, Tapestry, Basketry, Rugs, Clothing and Bookmaking. Members may participate in the Tucson Museum of Art Fall and Spring Art and Craft Fair, a Biennial Fashion Show, a Community Outreach Program and events hosted by the Arizona Federation of Weavers and Spinners.

Knitting Study Group-

Felting Study Group-

Contact Carolyn Webb at 520-743-4901 or  cactuscarrie@msn.com . The Felting Study Group is one of the many study groups offered by the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild. The Group began in Fall 2006, and meets monthly, except during the summer months.The purpose is to explore the many aspects of felting: techniques. including wet felting, felted knitting and needle felting; felting artists; materials resources; books and other instructive and inspirational works; workshops, etc. Meetings are held on the first Sunday of the month. Meetings have included demonstrations of needle felting and machine embellishment, hands-on wet felting, knitted felting, and exploration of fleeces and felting materials. Meeting topics/demonstrations are decided by the group. Meetings will resume September, 2007.

Tucson Knitting Groups-

Friday afternoons (AKA TGIF) from 12:30 to whenever (about 3:00 most weeks) at Desert Valley 7th Day Adventists Church at Santa Rosa and Bellevue. Everyone is welcome. Contact Elizabeth Wells 886-7630  eucwells@earthlink.net 

Eastside Tuesday Evening Knit-Ins: We meet from 6:30 to 8:00 in the TLC House on the northwest corner of the property, 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road. Contact: Connie Mallette 886-4772 or  CONNIE_MALLETTE@MSN.COM 

All Day Saturday Knit Ins at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church the 4th Saturday of the month in the TLC House at the northwest corner of the TVLC campus from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Plan ahead and come for the whole day or for just an hour to see what everyone is working on. Bring your lunch if you plan to stay all day. If you have questions that need research contact Julia in advance so she can bring books or pattern analysis to help. Julia Potter - 298-4415.
